Starting a Business in Indiana

Indiana Business License:  Indiana state does not require business registration for sole proprietors. However sole proprietors may still need additional business registration licenses from the various state agencies. Please check with your appropriate agency to see the nature of licenses required to operate.

City Licensing Requirements: Cities may require local business licenses. However, Indiana State does not issue City Business Licenses. You should contact your local city revenue office to learn about any required business licenses.

Indiana Corporations, LLCs & LLPs: To form a Corporation, LLCs and LLPs you need to contact Indiana Secretary of State's New Business Entity Division.
